Main Streets of Lycoming County Unveils New Logo.

Williamsport, Pennsylvania - January, 2009 (from Chamber of Commerce Connection newspaper insert)

Perhaps you noticed in last month's Regional Main Street Connection article that there was something new or different from the previous logo.

Well-- until a logo for Lycoming County was developed we used the State Main Street logo, but within the last month we got a final approval on the Lycoming County logo.

A little background on the logo:

Muncy artist, Pamela Madai Barner actually came up with the logo design. Pam is a very talent artist and you probably recognize her name as she was one of the featured artist's at the recent Governor's Award Ceremony held recently in Williamsport. She had a bronze soldier on display at the Community Arts Center the night the Governor presented the awards. So we had great and expert talent volunteered to design our logo.

Now a little about what the meaning of our logo stands for:

The Past represented by the train engine; The Present by the Keystone Storefront, and The Future with the Canoe. The lampposts to which there are five on the bridge represent our 5 Boroughs‹Hughesville, Jersey Shore, Montgomery, Montoursville, and Muncy with the 6th lamppost by the Keystone representing the City of Williamsport. The bridge symbolizes “bridging” our communities in Lycoming County together with a Regional Main Street program.

Since we are just starting the New Year of 2009, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my volunteers involved with the Regional Main Street program during this past year. I appreciate everything that has been accomplished and I'm looking forward to working on some very exciting projects that have been identified in the communities. If you don't want to miss out on the fun, please contact me at bfought@williamsport.org.
